Daily Handbasket: Saturday Serendipity, 3 June 17

This and That

Living on a cruise ship full time is often cheaper than living in NYC. Would you do it? Talk about living minimalist.

Next Thursday would have been Frank Lloyd Wright’s 150th birthday. His buildings are getting lots of well-deserved recognition. Here is a Chicago-area tour. And MoMA in NYC is having a major exhibition. Excuse me while I geek out!

This guy got to spend the night, alone, in a museum, surrounded by Rembrandts. Sounds cool, but also terrifying.

Fanny packs are back! Wait–I had no idea they went anywhere.

I think everyone in the world saw the classic film, The Princess Bride, decades before I did. My first time was last week! I loved it. Did you know there’s even Princess Bride Opoly?

Books and writing

The delightful Helen Ellis, author of the witty story collection, American Housewife, has an essay under  Modern Love in the New York Times. Making a Marriage Magically Tidy will have you laughing.

James Scott Bell’s terrific essay on easing back on the focus to let your best writing and best self shine through.

And because my BFF is incredibly talented, this ginormous banner showed up at BEA (Book Expo) in NYC this week. I’ve read this book, and come September, you’re going to want one. Go. J.T.!
