See the Blossoms Before They Disappear

Monday started out gloomy and rainy, but late in the afternoon, the sun came out. That’s my favorite time of day to take photographs because the light changes so dramatically from one moment to the next, and I’m opportunistic when it comes to light because I’m not so knowledgable about the technical stuff.

The dogs and I took a long walk in the upper meadow, though we are getting so many volunteer redbuds, it may not be a meadow much longer. Mostly I wanted to capture the blossoms before they go away.

(Evidence of the rain, an hour before)

(I’m not sure what this tree is, but I love its bridal look.)

(Perfection.)

(Pink and blue.)

(I don’t know what this godawful tree is. It’s the only one of its kind that I can find up there.)

(Hrothgar policing the volunteer redbuds.)

(All the pretty pink trees in a row. And one invasive Tree of Heaven. The yellow buds smell amazing right now–a little like White Shoulders perfume–but the tree will be a leggy, shaggy mess in a few weeks.)

(Scout. What a good guy.)

(More pink. I love the small bursts along the branches.)

(Hrothgar flagging a bit in the landscape. He’d been running a lot.)

(Not a stupendous shot–and let’s not talk about how many pics I have of my dogs’ butts–but this is exactly how the light looked.)

(The guys kept dashing in and out of the water to drink a cool off. Scout was amused by his reflection. The water was so clear after the rain.)

(I fear y’all will weary of pond shots. It’s just that it is never the same photograph twice. The cattails are worn out, like straw. There are new ones popping up in the water already.)

You’re so nice, Skye. Thank you. There are drawbacks to living in the country, but we do at least have a couple Starbucks in town. Best of both worlds. 😉

When I was young, we moved from Center City ( Old City). Philadelphia, to the country, and I loved it. Likewise, when I was first married we lived with my mother-in-law, and we were out in the country, as well. I am so very used to it.
