(Human Beings, by Yamaguchi Gen, 1953, Japan)

There are no rules. That is how art is born, how breakthroughs happen. Go against the rules or ignore the rules. That is what invention is about.

–Helen Frankenthaler

In describing this piece, Gen said that the figures are a man and a woman, but do not represent any particular country or race. Our creativity has no sex or gender or politics. Creativity doesn’t have any fears. It’s the expression of our souls, and it can be anything. You can be creative on the page, on a canvas, or a wall, or a piece of fabric, or in the kitchen, or in the garden, or in the way you live your live–wherever. The location and means may not be of any consequence. It simply wants to be.

This is very interesting, Laura and somewhat resembles the Ethiopian Crucifix handing on the altar of my church. Creativity is something difficult to discern by definition, but this makes a good post/
