The Fog

When I’m writing and get stuck, I will often get up and putter about the house or go online or get a snack (numbers 2 and 3 are never good choices). I’m trying to get in the habit of going outside and walking a bit. It was gray all day today, so I wasn’t excited about going out. Then I saw the fog gathering and knew I had to get out with my camera. Some of the photos are a little dark because the sunlight was disappearing fast. The colors were delicious.

Fog is fantastic when it is wispy but it always seems so spooky to me when it is solid. I lose my sense of direction and everything is muted so sound is weird. Glad I longer need to go out into it. Love the pictures . Bye, Alice

Things do sound different in the fog, don’t they? To me it’s like being in a big room. All terrific observations, Alice.

These are wonderful photos, Laura; I love walking and hiking and being outdoors even in the middle of the night, when my dog was still alive; however, I am trying to get away from the ‘grey’ which permeates New Jersey and the Eastern seaboard. Fog can summon up various sensations within me, and I am certainly glad you have the capacity to look at the positives….this is an inspiring trait.

You are so nice, Skye–thank you. Out walking in the middle of the night? I’m so impressed!

  3. Beautiful photos. I’ve been doing the same, although here in NH it’s snow that’s got my attention.

Thanks, Sarah! You’re brave heading out in the snowy cold. I’m dreading the snow arriving here, but on your example I’ll try to see some inspiration in it, too. 😊

    I love your photography!

Thank you, my dear! Trying not to drive myself crazy trying to get it right. Just having fun.

Love the pictures! The last two really call out to me. My hubby’s hobby is photograph and he’d be very impressed! Like you, when I’m stuck, I get up a do something around the house, usually involves cleaning the floor. No idea what it is about scrubbing floors helps unstick my thoughts.

    1. Laura Benedict says:

Hi, Jen! I hear you on the scrubbing thing. For me it’s vacuuming. I need to remember to add it to the list of possibilities. Thanks for the sweet words about the photos. 💜
