California Creatures, Sea and Otherwise

From the archive: Creatures from our trip to San Diego a while back. The best part of our whole visit was when we were feeding fish to the sea lions, and a gull swooped down and swiped a fish right out of Husband’s hand.

Look at that tortoise! (Sea turtle? I don’t know the difference!) It’s so intricate and beautiful up close, wow. There was a blue heron on our street yesterday. We live in a cow-and-horse area, so it was weird to see a heron!

Herons show up in the most interesting places. I always thought they were only near the ocean and boggy places, but we have one on our pond that comes and goes. You know, the critter in the photo is probably a Sea Turtle. I didn’t even think about that!

Amazing pictures, Laura! They are truly splendid, and San Diego, Huh? I was accepted to the U of Hawaii at Maui to study marine biology, but that’s when I met my husband, and I never went. I have always been interested in the sea and I also love the water.

What a poignant story. I hope you get to the sea often, Skye.
