Daily Handbasket: Blue Skies and No Snakes in Sight

6:00 and blue skies on the pond

These past few days have been lovely in our little corner of Southern Illinois. The temperature hovered between 65 and 70 degrees today, and last week’s rain made everything explode with life. (I’m sure that includes snakes and spiders, too, but we won’t talk about that.) I feel like I’ve spent months and months inside, but we live in a place that is wonderful for getting outside and…breathing–so I’ve been doing just that. Of course, here in about two weeks it will be humid and unbearable and I’ll probably be asking my annual question: “Why in God’s world did anyone ever want to get in covered wagons and settle this place? What were they thinking?” But right now the dogs and I are getting out and enjoying it as much as possible.

I spent most of today editing Stone Angels. I love editing–going back in and moving bits around and clarifying things. Though this story seemed to flow, to write itself. It certainly spoke up and demanded its own first person, strong voice. I love when that happens. I’m only sorry that you won’t able to read it until October. But it’s definitely an October story.

The big Memorial Day holiday is this weekend. What are your plans? I’m thinking barbecue chicken, and maybe a beer or two. 🍻

Laura; blues skies?? Lovely and the weather is smiling down on you ( it has been raining steadily in NJ; rainy and chilly). Enjoy each moment of your neck of the woods. I hope your dogs and hills were enjoyable.
I am off today ( a respite in time and space). I am chilling out with some books and just maybe take some of your advice. Stone Angels is such a wonderful title, for your gothic story, too.

I hope you enjoyed your day off and that the sun comes out soon!

I’m thrilled you like the title–It seemed simple and descriptive, which is my favorite type of title. 🙂

I loved the title! I have a penchant for angels, and I adore anything and everything gothic! 🙂
