The Not-Too-Serious List:

Oh, my. Plants may be able to hear, and can sense water even when it’s behind plastic. Also, they know when they’re being eaten. *shudders*

Soooo, the Dynasty reboot has a trailer. Looks like fun in an over the top evening soap opera way.

The King of the Netherlands has been secretly piloting KLM flights for decades.

Pippa Middleton’s wedding is today. I don’t know about you, but I’m really only interested in seeing pics of those cutie-pies, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

If you know anything about universities (particularly state universities in states where graft is rampart–ahem), you know how laughable some of the sinecure administration jobs can be. Now, you can click on University Title Generator and get your very own prestigious title and salary. I finally settled for Deputy Chancellor of the Office of Alumni Technology for $401, 509. Sweet.

Books and writing:

Amazon has new bestseller lists. Now we’ll know what people are actually reading as compared to what’s really selling. Exciting and terrifying at the same time.

My son is reading The Great Gatsby. We talked about the significance of Myrtle acquiring the puppy in Chapter 2. I don’t think the puppy comes to the same end that poor Myrtle does, but I also seem to recall that nothing good happens to it. I guess even in 1925, Fitzgerald understood that writers just can’t get away with killing dogs.

Did you catch my Handbasket interview with Amy Reichert, author of The Simplicity of Cider on Thursday?

Wedding plans:

My daughter and I looked at many, many pics of blue wedding dresses this week. A beautiful trend.

Wonderful thread! I heard a long time ago that lettuce screams when it’s been cut ( that’s upsetting, and so is the chicken I saw on television who played a wee piano with its beak); Dynasty remake on CW??? I loved that show as well as Knots Landing!!!! I think the best indicator about so-called ‘best sellers’ are found on Good Reads, and to be honest, I love Margaret Atwood’s books all except The Handmaid’s Tale.

The Handmaid’s Tale is not my favorite. I love The Robber Bride, and have read it probably several dozen times, in sections.

      The lettuce screaming sounds horrible.

Since we don’t have satellite, I’ll have to figure out how to watch Dynasty! Let me know if you see it…

I loved the third wedding gown ( and I don’t think it was blue).
