Surprises. Are They Good Things?

I LOVE SURPRISES!

Okay, I do love surprises, but I very much dislike unpleasant surprises. Or sometimes unexpected surprises (is that an oxymoron?). Husband tells me I like surprises under very specific conditions, those conditions being that I need to know the basic parameters of the surprise before I’m “actually” surprised. I know. That sounds like a nightmare. Surprises with boundaries aren’t actually surprises at all, I fear. Ah, well.

I LOVE MOST SURPRISES!

Better?

This has been a very long week. It was a week that needed to wind up with a nice surprise. Somehow my mom must have anticipated this week, because over last weekend, she arranged to send me a present. Don’t you love how moms just know?!

Do you like surprises?

Maybe this box of 8 FABULOUS glasses is for the entire family, but I can pretend, right?!

Miss Nina with coordinating ribbon. She’s the best gift. (At least she thinks so.)

It’s simple. I like surprises from people who love me because they know me best. Not this: “Surprise, Mom, we’re all getting dressed up and taking you out to a fancy restaurant!” But this: “Surprise, Mom, we bought you an exotic chocolate bar and rented The Blair Witch Project!”

    Aww, Nina is beautiful!

How lovely and thoughtful of your mother, Laura! Your Nina is simply beautiful, and I know this has been quite a week for you. We are expecting snow……that’s a surprise, too. Stay warm and happy.

“Lovely and thoughtful” is my mom, 24/7. Hope you get just enough snow to have some fun, Skye!

Although they don’t happen often, (nice) surprises for me make me feel quite humble and loved! You’ve had a rough week – so happy it ended with something fun 🙂

You always have such a sweet attitude, hon. And I’m glad the week ended on an upbeat note, too! xxL
