Trouble is Here!

Happy 2018, my dears!

I hope your holidays were cozy and full of all the things and people you love. In the past couple weeks we’ve layered on the sweaters and spent lots of time refilling bird feeders, but happily so. I’ve been making plans for the year, and they’re relatively simple: more time with the people I love, more reading, and more writing. You’ll see me a bit less here on the blog, but I promise to make up for it in stories. (Do subscribe to the blog right here so you won’t miss a post!)

It feels so good to have a New Book in the New Year. I know you’ve been hearing a lot about Trouble, the black cat detective. Never in my wildest dreams did I guess that I would write a cat detective book that’s full of mystery and romance. I love trying new things, and I figured, why not? I think you’re going to really like the result.

SMALL TOWN TROUBLE is the 5th book in the Familiar Legacy Series. Trouble is the creation of my dear friend/wildly fun, prolific writer, Carolyn Haines. She’s gathered some terrific writers to write Trouble’s adventures. (Although I seriously think I have the coolest cover so far. Shhhhhh. Don’t tell the others I said so.)

I sent Trouble to tiny New Belford, KY (which I totally made up–it’s about an hour southwest of Louisville). He’s visiting Erin Walsh, a college student who’s home from UK for the summer. When her saucy stepmother Shelby Rae is kidnapped, and a close friend of Erin’s is murdered, she sets out to solve both mysteries with Trouble’s help. Oh, and there’s a handsome guy named Noah Daly–whose dad, by the way, is indirectly responsible for Erin’s mother’s death–who wants to get to know Erin better. But is he going to be Erin’s summer romance, or is he mixed up in the crimes affecting her family? Only Trouble knows for sure.

So hie thee to a bookstore and find out what happens to Trouble, Erin and Noah! And what happens when a writer who’s written mostly dark suspense takes a walk on the lighter side…You probably won’t find it on your local bookstore’s shelves since the series is in limited distribution. But you can order it at any bookstore, or pick it up online!

Can’t wait to hear what you think!

It’s a fun series, Priscilla. The books are getting great reviews on Goodreads and Amazon. The first one by Carolyn Haines is available as a free ebook right now. Let me know what you think when you’ve read STT!

      1. I read Small Town Trouble and thoroughly enjoyed it. I admit to following a couple of red herrings, drats, but in the end I realized all the clues were there . . . such a good mystery. Kudos to you and the other Trouble authors for starting inside Trouble’s mind. How challenging and very brave of you! I left a review on Amazon, a good review because it was a fun read!

I’m so glad you liked the book, Priscilla! What a lovely, thoughtful review. How wonderful that you took the time. Thank you!

I did want it to be a good mystery. The romance was the bigger challenge for me. I most of my other books, the love stories are mostly dysfunctional, lol.

I am very familiar with Carolyn Haines’ books; I went to purchase the book from BN last week, and it was SOLD OUT! It will be back, but I was still shocked and happy for you.

Oh, my. That is nice news. I do hope you can get a copy. If it doesn’t show up, they can definitely order you one. I was so delighted when I learned they were doing a paperback–I thought of you!

I will keep trying, Laura! Your other books, right now, as well as J.T.’s come first on my list, but I will keep you posted.
