Open A Thousand Doors

New Story Alert!

Hi, my dears. I have a story in a new book, A THOUSAND DOORS, and it’s a book I know you’re going to love.

Several years ago my bestie, J.T. Ellison, talked about an idea she had for a book: to take one character and explore different life choices she might have made. Last year, she started bringing that idea to life–and a VERY special life it is.

She invited me, along with fourteen other writers, to join her on the journey to create the many life choices of Mia Jensen. And wow, did she get some incredible results!

From J.T.:

“We’ve all played the “what if” game. For Mia Jensen, “what if” is a fact of life. Dissatisfied with her choices, she often dreams about what could have been. Now she has the chance to know. But that knowledge is going to cost her dearly. Only through death can she fully realize the value of her life.

Forty-year-old Mia Jensen is home after a terrible day, trying to figure out how she’s come to this point in her life, when she hears a strange noise from the kitchen. She investigates, only to be brutally attacked and left for dead. As she dies, she experiences some of the lives that could have been hers had she only made a different choice.

Can one woman can find peace with the path she’s chosen before it slips through her fingers forever?”

Celebrating A THOUSAND DOORS in Nashville: (L to R) Ariel Lawhon, J.T. Ellison, Paige Crutcher, Me, Joy Jordan-Lake

If you know my work, you know I love to write and read short stories. I approached my chapter, The Professor, as a self-contained story. We were given a basic physical description, and a few story elements, and then we got to choose a life. I’ve never been a professor, but I’ve lived with one for twenty-eight years, so I figured I could give it a good shot. This is my second project in a year writing other writers’ characters–SMALL TOWN TROUBLE was the other, of course–and I’ve found that it’s challenging, but very rewarding.

Here’s a list of the other terrific contributors…

  1. With Mia Jensen in all the stories, it’s almost like a novel, but not. What a cool idea!

True! Not quite a novel and not quite a story anthology–something unique and fun. Delighted you popped in, Priscilla!
